"what people want to do most in life the most they avoid the most. and so the job of the artist is to make a gesture and really show people what their potential is, and through that people will live to their potential. they realize it's not about that object, it's not about that image, it's what is happening inside the viewer. that is where the art happens. the images are absolutely valueless. what happens inside the viewer--that's where the value is. it's about where they can go from that moment to achieve their desires."

"if you don't take money, they can't tell you what to do, kid."
"money is the cheapest thing...freedom is the most expensive."
"fashion is the armor to survive everyday life."
"it's as true as it ever was...he who seeks beauty will find it."

"I consider myself the oldest living teenager...I try to get the biggest kick out of things as possible." ~ Iris Apfle

Blog comments are virtual bathroom walls. ~Mayor of Ponce

I'm going to find myself a girl who can show me what laughter means.
And we'll fill in the missing colors in each other's paint-by-number dreams.
And then we'll put our dark glasses on and we'll make love until our strength is gone. ~Jackson Browne

You in the moonlight with your sleepy eyes, could you ever love a man like me? And you were right...when I walked into your house, I knew I'd never want to leave.

"Courage comes to us in finite quantities, like an inheritance, and by being frugal and stashing it away and letting it earn interest, we steadily increase our moral capital in preparation for the day when the account must be drawn down." - Tim O'Brien

So goodbye, so long, the road calls me dear
And your tears cannot bind me anymore,
And farewell to the girl with the sun in her eyes
Can I kiss you, and then I'll be gone.

Your individuality is like having a rat in the room always walking around. You can’t escape it and yet at the end you take a walk in your own landscape. It’s simple, feels good.
~William De Kooning~

"out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field...i'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about."

from lelove
What if loneliness was simply a feeling of impatience, telepathically sent to you by friends you've yet to meet, urging you to go out more, do more, and get involved, so that life's serendipities could bring you together... Would you still feel alone?

What if illness was just the signal a healthy body sent to urge clarification of your thoughts, feelings, and dreams... Would you still, at times, think of yours as diseased?

What if feelings of uncertainty and confusion were only reminders that you have options, that there's no hurry, and that everything is as it should be... Would you still feel disadvantaged?

What if mistakes and failures only ever happened when your life was about to get better than it's ever been before... Would you still call them mistakes and failures?

And what if poverty and lack were simply demonstrations of your manifesting prowess, as "difficult" to acquire as wealth and abundance... Would they still cause you to feel powerless?

“God is a comedian, playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.” ~Voltaire

"Let freedom reign. The sun never set on so glorious a human achievement...."
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." ~Nelson Mandela

"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
- Marianne Williamson, co-leader of the United States Department of Peace movement
(quote often wrongly attributed to Nelson Mandela). A Marianne Williamson was also
executive producer of the long running television series Touched By An Angel, but
I am not certain if the two are the same person.

"And so my prayer is that your story will have involved some leaving and some coming home, some summer and some winter, some roses blooming out like children in a play.
My hope is your story will be about changing, about getting something beautiful born inside of you about learning to love a woman or a man, about learning to love a child, about moving yourself around water, around mountains, around friends, about learning to love others more than we love ourselves, about learning oneness as a way of understanding God. We get one story, you and I, and one story alone. God has established the elements, the setting and the climax and the resolution. It would be a crime not to venture out, wouldn’t it?"

“The soul is a wide listening sky with thousands of candles…like a bee you fill hundreds of homes with honey, though yours is a long way from here.” ~Rumi
