"eli"

if you know me, you know i've been in search of a song with my name for years...tada! i tried to find the worst youtube version of the song...don't know how i feel about the lyrics yet.

when she opens her eyes she says she feels better
now she's falling apart and it's all in her mind
___ ___ ___ and soon she opens your letter
when she tries who knows what she will find

when she opens her eyes she says she feels better
she'll push you until she can see you unwind
she will tear you apart just as soon as you let her
when she tries who knows what she will find

she will never know
when she takes the time it makes her feel like letting go

a helvetica of a time...

So I just watched "Helvetica"--the documentary on the font...sharesomecandy.com is a blog that has lots of different aspects, but one is typography. I found these alphabets on a link of that website--had to include the aerial photograph one.

Ayurvedic...

On our little trip to Park City this summer...we happened to go through Albuquerque, NM. What was weird is we happened to go into this little restaurant because it looked vegetarian friendly. Turns out it was part of the Ayurvedic Institute, I went to school with the cousin of the waitress, and there was a picture of Sai Baba by our table.

Doshas

According to Ayurveda, each of us inherits a unique mix of three mind/body principles which creates our specific mental and physical characteristics. These three principles are called doshas.

Dosha quiz

Most of us have one or two doshas which are most lively in our nature, with the remaining one(s) less significant. The three doshas are known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

The three doshas are known as Vata, Pitta, & Kapha

If we are predominantly Vata, we tend to be thin, light and quick in our thoughts and actions. Change is a constant part of our lives. When Vata is balanced, we are creative, enthusiastic and lively. But if Vata becomes excessive, we may develop anxiety, insomnia or irregular digestion.

If the Pitta dosha is most lively in our nature, we tend to be muscular, smart and determined. If balanced, we are warm, intelligent and a good leader. If out of balance, Pitta can make us critical, irritable and aggressive.

If we have mostly Kapha in our nature, we tend to have a heavier frame, think and move more leisurely and are stable. When balanced, it creates calmness, sweetness and loyalty. When excessive, Kapha can cause weight gain, congestion and resistance to healthy change.

Using the principles of Ayurveda, we can identify our mind/body nature and use this understanding to make the most nourishing choices in our lives. It is common for people to have a blend of characteristics and usually one will tend to be dominate.

"where eating can be your good deed for the day"

I had heard about Cafe 458, but I drove past it the other day. It is really a great example of an effective way of assisting the homeless. They act as a food kitchen (restaurant) that the attendees have to be nominated by a social service organization. They get a balanced meal served with dignity. The restaurant also has resume and job placement services as well as acting as an address for the homeless (this is necessary for getting a driver's license or any form of ID). On the weekends, the public can eat there, and all of the money goes to support the center. It is staffed by volunteers so if you want to serve or help with resumes, check out the website...
